Terms, disclaimers and additional info
- Postage for mail order plants is $20 per order or $3 for seeds only. Orders are generally dispatched within one week but may occasionally be longer. Due to quarantine requirements orders to NT and TAS will be sent in October or as demand dictates, please understand this helps us keep prices down.
- For local customers or visitors all plants in our online shop and more in quantities too limited to list are available for immediate purchase at the nursery. The nursery is open every day between 10am and 6pm and is located at 78 Great Northern Hwy, Midland, Western Australia. You will find us easily on the corner of Margaret Street.
- All plants are raised outdoors in root training 90mm pots using a lean rock based soil for healthy root systems that establish readily in real garden environs. We have not found sumo like plants in full flower, crammed into poorly designed pots with cheap potting mix and then sprayed with growth retardants to be well prepared for a life outside of a well watered greenhouse.
- Mail order plants are carefully packed in their pots, perhaps with a little trimming, into cardboard boxes and sent via Australia Post. We do our best to ensure your plants arrive just as if you had picked them up from the nursery.
- You will notice while browsing this site that many plants, particularly new introductions, do not yet have descriptions. We try to provide information applicable to our mediterranean, West Australian conditions. Until we have observed how a plant grows and performs here it is difficult to provide any meaningful insights to it's cultivation or use in the garden. Until we learn enough to share we hope you will find the search function useful for jumping to your own conclusions.
- As we are not raising tender vegetables we have no need to use pesticides or fungicides but Iron based snail pellets have proved indispensable on occasion for the control of slugs and snails. These are essentially harmless to other animals and feed the plants a small dose of Iron.
- We don't use herbicides in the pots so there are often seedlings to be found in your purchases. Whilst these may be weeds, most of the time they are the beautiful self seeders that you see in the nursery or indeed could be seedlings of any of the plants we grow. Make sure you know what you are pulling out.
- We sell plants not fancy labels. Pots are labeled as they leave the nursery with paper stickers. These are cheap, biodegradable and are not made from fossil fuel. All purchases are recorded in your journal for permanent reference.
- Trade customers are welcome at the nursery and receive 30% discount on all plants.
- We can grow plants to meet your requirements. Contract orders require a 50% deposit, refundable on failure of supply. Please inquire for a quote.
- Consulting on climatically appropriate gardens, horticulture and the practicalities associated with related ventures is charged at $300 an hour plus GST and travel expenses. Reduced rates may apply for ongoing consultancy. Advice given at the nursery is free of charge.
