Our gardens are more than just a collection of plants. They are a reflection of our environment, our climate, our country and ourselves. They are not static but ever changing, hour by hour, season by season, year by year, and from one whim to the next. They can make a statement, evoke an emotion or remind us of who we are, where we have been or where we want to go.
Our gardens are a celebration of life and while they may be tamed, they can never be mastered.
We believe that in your garden you can grow whatever you want. To facilitate you in this endeavour we bring you a wealth of desirable plants. Some of them you will know, some you will not, some will be old familiar friends and some you will wonder how you ever did without. Whether they hail from within the Arctic circle, grow on cliffs in the Alps or are found only in the Badlands of California they all have one thing in common. They will grow in Perth.
So if you dare to dream of a desert inspired garden that needs no watering, a pair of english style borders flanking your lawn, a garden that reminds you of time spent in swamps of the Florida Everglades or a holiday in Greece we say you can and should create it and we'll happily sell you the plants with which to plant it.
All of our plants are propagated locally and grown outdoors in conditions similiar to those in your garden.
We use an excellent organic potting mix for all our plants and seed raising. This is available at the nursery at $5 a 30L bag.
We do not use insecticides or fungicides as good plants should be able to survive in the real world. We do use Iron based snail pellets for the control of slugs and snails. These are harmless to other animals and feed the plants a small dose of Iron.
As we don't use herbicides in the pots there are often seedlings to be found in your purchases. Whilst these may be weeds, most of the time they are the beautiful self seeders that you see in the nursery. Make sure you know what your pulling out.
When visiting the nursery don't be alarmed that the plants aren't flowering in the pots, it's better they flower in your garden instead.
Many plants, particularly the more drought hardy, have large root systems and need to be planted when young. Small plants are cheaper and it's better they grow in your garden.
Some plants, biennials, many Penstemon species and those that are short lived and/or very fast growing, we grow in biodegradable pots made from plantation timber waste and renewable peat. These plants should be planted as soon as possible without removing the pot.
We sell plants not fancy labels. Pots are labeled as they leave the nursery with paper stickers. These are cheap and biodegradable.
We try to keep prices as low as possible, so the miniscule amount you pay for your fantastic plants must be made in Cash or via PayPal.
